The NSW Jockeys Association is the recognised representative body in NSW, and our charter is to advocate on all matters relating to jockeys and apprentices (herein referred to jockeys).
Our Services
- Actively consult with Racing NSW and secured better outcomes for all jockeys and apprentices who ride in NSW.
- This includes providing full support for our jockeys on and off the track.
- Regular communication with the jockeys through email/newsletters and SMS, keeping them informed on important matters.
- Liaising with the industry body to establish the best possible insurance and cover for jockeys.
- Supporting the establishment, ongoing provision, and improvements of the Jockeys’ Assistance Program that provides confidential mental health and wellbeing support to members, past jockeys and their immediate family members.
- Attending to all health and safety matters for jockeys, includes liaising with individual clubs and Racing NSW.
- Identifying and pursuing sponsorship opportunities to support member services.
- Providing transition support for jockeys retiring or ceasing to ride due to injury.
- Conducting the AGM each year for the appointment of Directors.
- Annually negotiate an increase in the riding fee with Racing NSW.
The NSWJA is a strong representative body who is batting for every jockey. Helping them along the journey from an apprentice to their retirement.

Career Assistance
The JBS Discretionary Fund provides funding for programs and initiatives to benefit jockeys’ welfare both during their riding career and in retirement, including vocational and life skills training, career transition support, business start-up assistance and financial planning advice.
